That’s what I’m doing
TYPOGRAPHY / MOVIE / PRINT / VIRTUAL REALITY
A utopia practices acting in doing — this is my conclusion.
There is personal utopia — that affects the individual; a collective utopia — sought by groups of people; future-oriented utopia — a vision; past oriented utopia — also called memory; and the current utopia, in action. This current utopia is to be understood as a correlation between an idea and what takes place in reality. In this doing, it practices acting.
Doing means living utopia: at the moment do not evaluate, do not ask questions, experience becomes irrelevant, nor am I on the lookout for the future. Something new can me experienced.

The action is carried by my hands, my body — they act. To show the doing in its diversity, I created a collection of over 700 activities in a movie. The time of action taking place is the decisive criterion for the order of the movie sequences. The work, which lasts 10 minutes and 35 seconds, begins at 8:11 a.m. and carries on through the day. It sensitizes the viewer to the moment. In the moment, frames of knowledge can expand. A space is created that is a container with no dimensions.
During the theoretical research, I dove deep in to Suprematism and the music of “Käptn Peng and the tentacle of Delphi” which not only inspired the visual work, but also led to poetry that I recorded.
For the presentation, I choose cardboard virtual reality glasses which let the viewer dive into the moment. The movie has been split into a VR mode. Therefore, one can practice in it.
The activity described with a verb — the list developed within the sorting process by time, is listed on the poster. This screen-printed page documents the creation process with poems and thoughts of the work in supplementary texts. The picture side sums up the work in snapshots from the recordings. A cycle of the moment arises — lived utopia.
